1. Participation
1.1 Participation is possible by anyone from the age of 18.
1.2 The maximum number of participating teams is 180 boats. Admission takes place in the order of registration. After 180 registrations, a team is placed on the reserve list, after which it is checked whether there is still sufficient capacity for these teams.
1.3 Registration takes place from 3 March 2020 on 12:00 p.m. to 3 May 2020 12:00 p.m. on the website For international teams, a requested registration form has to be completed. Participation is only possible after payment of the full registration fee.
1.4 Refund of the registration fee is not possible. The organization can make exceptions in the event of force majeure.
1.5 The following gender classes are deterimined:
  –        Men. 

–        Woman.

–        Mixed. The team consists of as many men as women whereat the coxswain is not included.

–        Free composition (for certain types of boats). The team consists of a random combination of men and women.

–        If the team consists of fewer than 50% women and there is no free composition for the number that starts, the team will participate in the men’s ranking.

1.6 Each team must start in the boat type in which they are registered.
1.7 By participating in the Ringvaart Regatta, you agree that data is shared with the KNRB (Royal Dutch Rowing Federation).


2. Boat
2.1 The boat must be delivered on Tuesday 2 June 2020 between 10:00 a.m. and 18:00 p.m. (in the case of the reserve date 16 June 2020). Boats that are delivered later than Tuesday 2 June 18:00 p.m. (in the case of the reserve date 16 June) will be excluded from participation without a refund of the registration fee. If you are unable to meet this requirement, you are requested to contact the Ringvaart Regatta organization as soon as possible. The following additions apply:
  –         When a boat needs to be rowed to the starting location and weather conditions are predict that it will be unsafe to row on Tuesday June 2 (in case of the reserve date 16 June 2020), the organization has the right to let these teams deliver their boat at a different specified time. 

–         The organization reserves the right to relocate boats on the starting site for the purpose of easing the starting procedure.

2.2 A team must take care of a boat and accessories themselves. The organization is not responsible for damage caused during the regatta.
2.3 The boat will be inspected before the start of the regatta. The organization reserves the right to exclude a boat if it does not meet the requirements.
2.4 The boat must meet the requirements as specified in the KNRB rowing competition rules, article 17 up to and including article 21 (Dutch version can be found on






3. Regatta
3.1 The team must have at least one person in charge who follows the team ashore. The telephone number of this person must be known to the organization of the Ringvaart Regatta.
3.2 In the case of withdrawal from regatta, the responsible party must inform the regatta management. Teams still have to take responsibility for the equipment.
3.3 During the competition the bow rower wears clothing with a signaling color (for example a fluorescent yellow shirt/shirt).
3.4 The boats get an individual start time. The times will be announced on the site on 20 May 2020.
3.5 Teams report in time befor the specified start time (as communicated by the organization) for the startprocedure. Being late at the start can be fined (€ 20 for skiff, twos and fours and € 50 for eights) and may result in exclusion.
3.6 The instructions of volunteers on the side overrule the rules above at all times. The instructions of volunteers must be followed at all times.
3.7 If you are still rowing after sunset (9:55 p.m.), you should wear a white all-around shining light. Boats that row unlit after 9:55 p.m. will be disqualified. Any fines are for your own account.
3.8 The start will take place on Wednesday 3 June 2020 from 6:00 a.m. according to the timetable that will be published on the site under the heading ‘Field layout’.
3.9 An ascended team may not hinder the ascending team and must give way in time so that the ascending team is free to choose its course. Safety and sportiness must be decisive for both the ascended and the ascending team in the way they treat each other.
3.10 All boats must finish be before 00:00 a.m. on the night of 3 to 4 June 2020.
3.11 The organization reserves the right to exclude a team if, in the eyes of the organization, will not reach the end time. This applies if the team reached stop C4 (Café Ut Dobbertje) after 6:30 p.m. Teams must then stop and moor the boat at A.L.S.R.V. Asopos de Vliet.
3.12 If follow-up teams do not adhere to the traffic rules and / or instructions of the organization and relevant authorities and thereby endanger the continuity of the event, the organization may decide to give the participating team a time penalty or disqualification and withdrawel from the regatta.


4. Route
4.1 The route has various obstacles such as low and / or narrow bridges and a lock. The bridge heights and widths can be found in the regatta magazines which can be found on the site under the heading regatta. Coxswains must know these heights and widths and know whether their team can sail underneath without bending over.


5. Leidschendam
5.1 At the lock in Leidschendam, eights have to moor on port side, all other boats have to moor on starboard shore.
5.2 The time is stopped when the boat passes the timekeepers.
5.3 The boats are lifted out of the water by volunteers from the D.S.R.V. “Laga”. Teams in Leidschendam must take care of their oars themselves.
5.4 The boats may remain in Leidschendam for a maximum of 45 minutes. After this the boats must be put back into the water by the participants themselves.
5.5 The time is resuming when the team starts rowing again and passes the timekeepers. After the 45 minutes the time is automatically resumed, even if the participants have not started rowing yet.
5.6 Laying in the boats and continuing the teams is not the responsibility of the organization.
5.7 The organization reserves the right to have teams row through the lock at Leidschendam in case of extreme crowds. In this case, the teams will not receive a mandatory break in Leidschendam.


6. Finish area
6.1 It is not allowed to bring your own alcoholic drinks and drinks that are in a glass or bottle of glass to the finish area.
6.2 It is not allowed to spread confetti on the finish area. Cleaning costs can be charged.
6.3 Boats must be deconstructed in the designated athletes area, unless otherwise indicated by the organization.
6.4 Only participants and the designated team coach are allowed in the athletes area.


7. Rankings
7.1.1 There are two winners among all participating boats: a fastest women’s team and a fastest men’s team.
7.1.2 The winner is the team that achieves the highest percentage of the Ringvaart record for the boat type rowed. The records can be found on the website (
7.2.1 Everyone for whom participation is possible will automatically participate in the Sprintbokaal as soon as the registration for the Ringvaart Regatta is completed.
7.2.2 Participation is only possible for participants of the Ringvaart Regatta in the numbers as communicated on the website. 


7.2.3 There are no additional costs associated with participation.
7.2.4 The organization reserves the right to cancel the sprints in its entirety.
7.2.5 In case of cancellation of the whole regatta on 3 June 2020, the sprints will expire on the reserve date on 17 June 2020 due to route change.
7.2.6 The Sprintbokaal runs the last part of the route of the Ringvaart Regatta, over a distance of approximately 600 meters. It starts after passing the Abtswoudse Brug in Delft. The finish of the sprint bowl coincides with the finish of the EY-Parthenon Ringvaart Regatta. The exact route can be found on the website. (
7.2.7 The buoys placed along the route serve as an indication of the start of the Sprints
7.2.8 There are two winners over all participants: a fastest women’s team and a fastest men’s team.
7.2.9 The winner is the team that achieves the highest “Golden Standard”. The “Golden Standard” used for the relevant boat type can be found on the website. (


8. CancelLation
8.1 If the competition cannot take place due to unforeseen circumstances or force majeure, this will be communicated to all participants at 09:00 on Tuesday 2 June 2020 at the latest. The regatta will then take place on 17 June 2020.
8.2 If, due to unforeseen circumstances or force majeure, the regatta also cannot take place on 17 June 2020, it may be decided by the board of D.S.R.V. “Laga” that a percentage (to be determined) of the rowing fees to the participating teams will be refunded.
8.3 If the competition cannot take place on 17 June 2020 due to unforeseen circumstances or force majeure, the event will be cancelled on Tuesday 16 June at 09:00.
8.4 By offering a reserve date, a refund of the registration fee is not possible if the regatta is cancelled on 3 June 2020.


9. TeAM
9.1 According to KNRB House Rules Article 52, a medical examination is urgently advised when participating in a rowing competition. Control of this rests with the rowing club to which the participant is affiliated. Participation is at your own risk. KNRB regulations apply.
9.2 Participants are expected to know the regulations and to be informed of the current information on this website. The “Binnenvaart Politie Reglement” (English translation: Inland Navigation Police Regulations) are fully applicable and “good seamanship” is paramount.
9.3 A team consists of a maximum of nine crew members for an 8, a maximum of five (without coxswain; four) crew members for a 4, a maximum of four (without coxswain; 3) crew members for a 3 and a maximum of three (without coxswain; two) crew members for a 2, a maximum of three crew members for a single wherry and a maximum of one crew member for a skiff.
9.4 The crew members may not be changed during the regatta, except for a single and double wherry for which it is permitted to have the rower swapped with the coxswain.
9.5 For all teams, the coxswain counts as a crew member.
